Dr Darragh Flannery

Dr Darragh Flannery completed his cardiology training in 2016. He spent two years as an advanced cardiology trainee at the Austin Hospital, with his final year split between Box Hill Hospital and Bendigo Hospital. Following this, he undertook PhD studies at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, researching heart rhythm disturbances in athletes. During his PhD studies, he undertook subspecialty training in electrophysiology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincent’s Private Hospital. During this time, he served as a consultant cardiologist at Bendigo Hospital from 2017-2020. Darragh completed his electrophysiology training with a two year clinical fellowship at MonashHeart.

Darragh is particularly interested in the management of heart rhythm disturbances, including atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia.

Darragh is Irish-American and completed his medical training at University College Cork in Ireland. Before settling in Melbourne, he undertook physician training in Ireland, England, and Minnesota. He has qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He has been Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and achieved Fellowship in the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology.

Before having children, Darragh enjoyed travelling, hiking, golfing, and trying new restaurants. Since having children, he enjoys spending time with his family and visiting the park, science museums and restaurants with playgrounds.
