Dr Alexander Dashwood is a cardiologist trained in advanced heart failure and transplantation. He
has special interests in arrhythmogenesis and currently holds a public position working at the
Victorian Heart Hospital electrophysiology unit. Doctor Dashwood graduated from the University of
Southampton, England, before emigrating to Australia where he completed cardiology training in
2018. Dr Dashwood undertook a clinical fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplantation at
The Prince Charles Hospital, before becoming a consultant with the advanced heart failure transplant
unit in 2019. Dr Dashwood has research interests in understanding mechanisms of arrhythmogenesis
of the failing heart and is completing a PhD with the University of Queensland. He has authored
several peer reviewed papers in basic science and cardiology journals. Dr Dashwood has a passion
for education and is a current member of the CSANZ education committee. He is a cofounder of the
charitable organisation: Association of Queensland Advanced Trainees in Cardiology providing
ongoing education for the next generation of cardiologists.
